10 Billion Dollar Government Student Loan Scam Ny Times

by admin on March 14, 2010

I’ve been getting funny looks (like I’m the feakin’ conspiracy guy) for years for saying the same thing that this 4 page story in the New York Times is offering readers tomorrow.  It amounts to, in my opinion, a 10 billion dollar student aid scam.  With the intention of making more money, students are getting the sham times ten….Go read the article and if you don’t make it back here to share your ideas, then at least share the idea with someone, like your kids.

Going to college has long been the keystone money making idea for the masses and it’s long been bunch of bunk…. maybe not in principle, but certainly certainly in practice.  Much like the recent “housing crisis”  over inflated home values coupled with expensive, deceptively complex financial product/schemes the education system from start to finish is broken in more ways than one.

Getting good grades in High School, a Bachelor’s Degree, and Masters Degree then a “good” job making 60k – 120k per year is not all thats it’s portrayed to be by the marketing machine also known as public education.  Try living on that with over 200k in student loans a family and a mortgage, thing is these money numbers are WAY better than MOST are experiencing!!

By the 2011-12 school year, the administration now estimates, students at for-profit schools should receive more than $10 billion in Pell grants, more than their public counterparts.(ny times) Read article below.

Do you have any stories, with dollar figures, of people you know who invested a ton of money in paying for school so they could get a better job and make more money?

What have you noticed about the financial aid system available to students compared to when you went to college?
